The Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ) Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Committee is keen to engage the next generation of urological professionals.

Medical students in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand are invited to participate in an essay competition for the chance to win free registration to attend the USANZ 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) in Melbourne.

Share your experience on the topic of “Inclusion without Exclusion: Addressing Perceptions of Reverse Discrimination in Surgical Careers” for your chance to win.

About the USANZ ASM

If you’re considering a career in urology, the USANZ ASM presents the perfect opportunity to discover the latest research and connect with urological professionals.

Hosted in Melbourne from 28 February – 3 March 2026, the ASM is open to all medical, research and allied health professionals with an interest in urology and uro-oncology, as well as industry specialising in urological issues.

As the premier event for urological health professionals in Australia and New Zealand, the meeting will feature an exciting scientific program with local and international experts, plenary sessions, masterclasses and workshops. The social program is just as engaging, with activities and networking opportunities to participate in throughout the four-day event.

Essay Competition

One winner will be selected to receive free registration to attend the USANZ 2026 ASM and up to $500 in travel costs (subject to receipts).

To apply for the USANZ DE&I Essay Competition, please write a 1000-word essay on the topic:

Inclusion without Exclusion: Addressing Perceptions of Reverse Discrimination in Surgical Careers.

Please include references in your essay (not counted in the word limit).
